Please join us on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the Pat Peterson Museum Education Room to celebrate the life and honor the memory of Dr. Louis M. Bourne. Dr. Bourne was an emeritus professor of Spanish in the Department of World Languages and Cultures and an accomplished poet and author. Alumni, students and faculty will pay tribute to him by reading a selection of poems from his book The Thought of Seeing.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and the Georgia College & State University French Club is ready to help you get in the spirit. Join the Department of World Languages & Cultures for the first International Coffee Hour of the semester. The French Club will help attendees write messages of love in various languages to add to the Love Tree. Coffee and other treats will be provided. Drop by the third floor of Beeson Hall anytime between 12 and 2 p.m. this Thursday to join in on the fun.

The Department of World Languages & Cultures invites the campus community to enjoy International Coffee Hour for the spring 2024 semester. International Coffee Hour is a relaxed, drop-in program where students, faculty and staff can interact, practice chatting in another language and learn about other languages & cultures. Each coffee hour lasts two hours, and attendees are encouraged to stop by for whatever portion of the two-hour window best fits their schedule. More details about...

The Department of World Languages and Cultures is presenting their final International Coffee Hour Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at 5 p.m. in Beeson Hall on the third floor. The department will host an early Christmas themed Coffee Hour with the lighting of a Christmas tree, making Christmas decorations, music, snacks and of course your choice of hot coffee or not cocoa.  We hope to see you then.

Dr. Arash Bodaghee, associate professor of Physics and Astronomy, and his Scholar, Cody Cox, '22, published an article in The Astrophysical Journal: the top-rated peer-reviewed journal devoted solely to Astronomy and Astrophysics. Using X-ray observations from NASA's NuSTAR space telescope, Cox and Bodaghee studied a high-mass X-ray binary in which a star several times more massive than the sun is paired with a neutron star (i.e., the remnant core of a massive star after its supernova)...
