Faculty and Staff Donor Spotlight - Dr. Joy Godin

Faculty and Staff Donor Spotlight - Dr. Joy Godin

Georgia College & State University is home to almost 900 faculty and staff members where acts of philanthropy are evident across campus. Our faculty and staff are giving back to our students, programs, and mission in incredible ways. From our professors and campus leaders, to coaches and facilities crew, to admin and student support staff, we can’t thank you enough for your generous contributions in supporting GC programs, scholarships, and organizations across campus! Please read through our amazing donor spotlight below and stay tuned for more!

Meet Dr. Joy Godin, Associate Professor of Information Systems and WebMBA Coordinator! Joy has worked at GC for 11 years and has been a donor for 13! Joy received a Master of Management Information Systems from Georgia College in 1998.

-WHY do you give back to Georgia College?

As an alumni and now faculty, I like to give back to Georgia College to help support the students and programs we offer.

-What fund, department, or program do you donate to?

My husband, Fred, who is a Systems Analyst in Enterprise Applications, and I donate to the Information Systems and Computer Science Department, Grace Hopper, Information Technology Department, and to the GC Dance Minor program. I also have an endowed scholarship in my name and both my parents, who also worked for Georgia College, have scholarships in their names. So each year my parents and I get the opportunity to help students by awarding them scholarship money.

-What makes Georgia College a special place?

Georgia College is special because it is a small liberal arts college that provides students with a wide variety of transformative experiences. Students and faculty form relationships that you do not see in other larger universities. I feel fortunate to work with so many bright students who I know will go out and make a difference in the world after leaving Georgia College.

On April 13th at 4 p.m. all faculty and staff donors will be celebrated at a reception hosted by President Cox outside the University Advancement office (The Depot). More details to follow!
