Faculty and Staff Donor Spotlight - Steve Barsby

Georgia College & State University is home to almost 900 faculty and staff members where acts of philanthropy are evident across campus. Meet Steve Barsby, Assistant Athletic Director and the Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach! Steve is in his 23rd year at GC and has been a donor for all 23 years!

-WHY do you give back to Georgia College?

Georgia College has provided me with the opportunity to do something I love as a career, and I am very appreciative of that.  I have been fortunate to work with very dedicated, loyal, and passionate people in athletics.  Through these relationships, I have grown to have a sense of ownership and strive to continue to make our department better every day.

-What fund, department, or program do you donate to?

Mostly athletic events over the years as well as the teams I coach.  My parents always told me to leave whatever place you spend time in better than you found it if you have the opportunity and means to do so.

-What makes Georgia College a special place?

Georgia College is a special place because of its relational atmosphere, the friendships, and connections I have developed in my area of coaching and working within athletics will last a lifetime.

On April 13th at 4 pm all faculty and staff donors will be celebrated at a reception hosted by President Cox outside the University Advancement office (The Depot). More details to follow!
