GC Thirst for Knowledge: Paddle Down the Oconee

GC Thirst for Knowledge: Paddle Down the Oconee

Looking for something fun to do before the ArtHealthy Festival on April 15?  Students are invited to join Academic Outreach, the Aquatic Sciences Center and the Outdoor Center as we learn about water quality, clean-up a bit and enjoy a relaxing paddle down the Oconee River from 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.!

Cost is $10 per person and will include boat rental, gear and light snacks.  you need only bring additional snacks, water bottle, change of clothes, Closed-toe heeled shoes, bug spray, and sunscreen.

We will look at the Dissolved Oxygen, pH, temperature and conductivity of the River at the Greenway where we will put our canoes in, a midway stop at a sandbar and when we pull our boats out at the Central State Boat Ramp.  Each canoe will have a trash bag and as we paddle we can collect a little trash if we see it.

Spaces are limited to 12 participants for paddling. All participants must complete a waiver of liability form. Please follow this link to register online via give pulse

Afterward, stop by the ArtHealthy Festival on Front Campus from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and visit our table to learn more about water quality and Georgia Adopt-a-Stream.  (Registration only needed for paddling event.)
