Sexual Assault on College Campuses: Awareness and Prevention

Sexual Assault on College Campuses: Awareness and Prevention

GC2Y "Sex and Resistance" and the Women's Center and LGBTQ+ Programs present: "Sexual Assault on College Campuses: Awareness and Prevention" featuring Title IX Coordinator Shanoya Cordew, LGBTQ+ Programs Coordinator Melissa Gerrior and Interim Chief Diversity Officer & Women's Center Director Dr. Jennifer Graham.

Join us April 6 at 5 p.m. in Arts and Sciences Room 3-70 for an open conversation about sexual assault awareness and how we can make GCSU a safer space with the help of organizations like the GCSU Women’s Center and other LGBTQ+ organizations.

We view the conversation around sexual assault awareness to be extremely important as instances of sexual assault are common on college campuses. Many survivors feel discouraged from coming forward about their abuse.  With our presentation, we hope to ensure a future where sexual assault is far less frequent and where sexual assault victims of any kind are provided with the proper counseling and justice for what they have endured.

With the help of Shanoya Cordew, who is the student compliance counselor at Georgia College, we hope to inform those who attend that there is a place to report sexual assault and receive mental health counseling. We want to provide a safe and inclusive space that recognizes the seriousness of sexual assault on college campuses, and how we can each do our part in ensuring a safer space where sexual assault of any kind is handled appropriately.
