Guest Artist Piano Recital: "The Masters of Musical Narrative," featuring Dr. Giuliano Graniti
Thursday, Aug. 31, Georgia College & State University’s Music Department opens its fall 2023 season with a piano recital, “Masters of Musical Narrative,” at 7:30 p.m. in Max Noah Recital Hall.
The recital is a storytelling musical adventure featuring guest pianist and worldwide performer Dr. Giuliano Graniti. He aims to describe human nature through personal battles, both rational and irrational, played out in everyday life. Each musical narrative will be introduced through words, inviting the audience to participate. Familiar works, like Robert Schumann’s “Carnaval op. 9” and Frédéric Chopin’s “Ballade no. 4” are mingled with lesser-known pieces, like Louis Ballard’s Native American “Preludes” and Clara Wieck’s “Fugitive Pieces op. 15.”
Graniti’s own arrangement of the second movement of Sergei Prokofiev’s “Symphony no. 5” is included. A $5 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GCSU Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc. For more information, please email music@gcsu.edu or call 478-445-8289.
