Shared Sick Leave Program: Enrollment open Oct. 23 - Nov. 3

The Annual Shared Sick Leave Program Enrollment Window will be open Monday, Oct. 23, 2023 through Friday, Nov. 3, 2023 for participation effective Jan. 1, 2024.

All interested participants, should complete and submit the Shared Sick Leave Enrollment Form to Employee Relations at employeerelations@gcsu.edu by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2023. Please submit all enrollment forms via email. Please do not send enrollment forms via interoffice mail.

Participation in the program is voluntary, but employees must give in order to receive.

Only employees who have voluntarily enrolled in the Shared Sick Leave Program after meeting all of the eligibility requirements outlined within the applicable USG policy are eligible to become Shared Sick Leave Program recipients. Enrollment is only open during the annual open enrollment period, barring any exceptions outlined within the applicable USG policy.

Eligibility for Enrollment (during USG Benefits Open Enrollment Period):

  • Must be a regular, benefits eligible employee who has completed their provisional period (six month probationary period), and
  • Must contribute a minimum of eight (8) hours sick leave (prorated based on FTE) up to 80 hours, and
  • Must have a minimum of forty (40) hours of sick leave remaining after their donation at the time of enrollment.

Note:

  • Initial Enrollment: At the time of initial enrollment, employee must have a minimum of 48 hours sick leave, of which eight hours will be deducted and added to the leave pool.
  • Re-Enrollment: Those members who were granted sick leave from the shared sick leave pool in 2023 must submit a new enrollment form in order to participate in 2024.
  • Special Enrollment: When the program is determined to be depleted (120 hours or less remaining balance) a “special enrollment period” will be conducted with an appeal to the Georgia College community at large to donate sick leave. Each member will be notified in writing that and additional (8) eight hours will be deducted from their sick leave balance.
  • Current members: No action required; you will automatically be enrolled into the program for 2024 unless you request to terminate your membership.
  • Terminate membership: An employee may terminate their membership at any time by completing and submitting the Shared Sick Leave Program Termination Form. Any leave contributed to the pool prior to withdrawal from the program shall be forfeited.
