GCSU welcomes Wesley Hardin as the new director of Public Safety and chief of Police

Dear Campus Community,

Georgia College & State University welcomes Wesley Hardin as the new director of public safety and chief of police for the Department of Public Safety. He will begin his tenure at Georgia College on Dec. 1, 2023.

Hardin has more than 28 years of experience in law enforcement and currently serves as the chief of police at Tallahassee Community College in Florida where he is responsible for the safety and welfare of 12,000 students spanning multiple properties and campuses in three counties. Prior to this role he served across a diverse array of assignments in local, county and K-12 based agencies here in Georgia. Chief Hardin has a reputation for community policing and positively engaging the public to improve police and community relationships.

I would like to thank Nikki Renfroe. Nikki stepped in as the interim director in February and has done a fantastic job. I am incredibly thankful to have had her leadership during this crucial transition period.

Please join me in welcoming Wesley to the Georgia College & State University community.

Kind regards,
