Georgia Severe Weather Preparedness Week

Georgia Severe Weather Preparedness Week

This week is Georgia Severe Weather Preparedness Week. As we approach what is typically the most active part of the year for severe weather, Severe Weather Preparedness Week provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about the dangers of severe weather, as well as knowing what actions to take when severe weather is expected and when it hits. Please take the time to review your home, school or work preparedness plans.

While at Georgia College, make sure you are signed up to receive GC Alert emergency notifications. On Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2024) Georgia College will test the Outdoor Emergency Notification system (siren system). This test is scheduled to occur on the first Wednesday of every month between 10 a.m. and noon (weather permitting).

For more information on the Outdoor Emergency Notification System and other campus emergency systems, please visit the emergency systems page on the Public Safety website. To learn more about severe weather preparedness, please visit the Georgia Severe Weather Preparedness Week page on the National Weather Service website.
