Tornado Watch for Baldwin County today until 5 p.m. Heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms also expected

The National Weather Service (NWS) of Peachtree City has issued a tornado watch for Baldwin County for today, May 9, until 5 p.m. 

The NWS is expecting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds in the area beginning around noon and into early afternoon. Most of the storm is expected to have moved through our area by 4:00-5:00 p.m., but overnight storms are forecast for our area in the 5:00-6:00 a.m. timeframe.

The safety of our students, faculty and staff remains the highest priority as we track the storms. GCSU Public Safety will continue to monitor the situation and provide the university community updates should there be any changes to the situation.
