GCSU earns No. 7 seed in Southeast Regional 

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | Georgia College & State University has earned an automatic berth to the 2024 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship by virtue of winning the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.

It is the 15th time in program history that the Bobcats have qualified for the NCAA postseason. GCSU last qualified for the 2018 tournament.
 
Baseball is the first GCSU team to earn a berth in their respective NCAA tournament this season.
  
The Bobcats are one of 56 teams that have been selected to play in the championship. Eight regional sites hosting three teams and eight regional sites hosting four teams, for a total of 16 regional sites. All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played Thursday through Sunday (May 16-19).  

Georgia College, which won the PBC Tournament for the fifth time in program history, earned the No. 7 seed from the Southeast region. The Bobcats (34-20) will travel to Tigerville, South Carolina, for Southeast Regional No. 2.  GCSU will join No. 2 seed North Greenville University (41-12), No. 3 seed University of Mount Olive (37-16) and No. 6 seed Wingate University (33-23).
 
GCSU will open the regional against North Greenville, which earned an at-large berth out of Conference Carolinas, Thursday (May 16) at 6 p.m. at Ray & Bea Dilliard Field at Ashmore Park. Mount Olive, which earned an at-large berth out of Conference Carolinas, will face off against Wingate, the automatic qualifier from the South Atlantic Conference, at 2 p.m. The regional continues with two games Friday (May 17) and Saturday (May 18). The championship game is set for 6 p.m. Saturday (May 18) with an if-necessary game Sunday (May 19).

All tickets to the public will be general admission and tickets are day passes. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 10 and under, and free for children under the age of three.
 
In the other half of the region bracket, No. 1 seed Catawba College (40-14) will host the Southeast Regional No.1 in Salisbury, North Carolina. No. 4 seed University of North Carolina at Pembroke (42-12) and No. 5 seed Young Harris College (39-13) are the other teams earning berths. UNC Pembroke won the Conference Carolinas tournament, while Catawba earned an at-large berth from the South Atlantic Conference. Young Harris earned an at-large berth from Conference Carolinas.
 
Winners from the two Southeast brackets will advance to the super regionals, slated for May 24-25. Super regional winners will advance to the double-elimination championship finals June 1-8 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. The finals will be hosted by the University of Mount Olive and the town of Cary, North Carolina.
