Gutierrez nabs yet another honor after stellar freshman campaign

GREENWOOD, S.C.- Georgia College & State University catcher Karlie Gutierrez has been named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Southeast Region second team. This is the second All-Southeast Region award for Gutierrez this season.

Gutierrez had a superb offensive freshman campaign, accumulating a .414 batting average and a .764 slugging percentage. With 65 hits and 15 walks, the Newnan, Georgia, native mustered a .469 on-base percentage. Gutierrez had the hot stick on the Bobcat offense leading the team in home runs and triples with 14 and four respectively. She also had eight doubles with 64 runs batted in and 42 runs scored.

In three categories, Gutierrez is ranked in the top 50 nationally. Notably, she is ranked eighth in NCAA Division II statistics in RBI per game (1.28) and 18th in RBI. She is 36th in slugging percentage. Gutierrez capped off her freshman campaign holding 10 top-five spots in Peach Belt Conference statistics, including the top batting average. She also holds the top spot in RBI per game.

Gutierrez, who was named the PBC Freshman of the Year, to the All-PBC second team, as well as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Southeast Region second team, is the first player to be named to an all-region team since the 2019 season when Bobcat catcher Haley Howell was named to the second team.
