Three GCSU players earn CSC Academic All-District® accolades

AUSTIN, Texas | Georgia College & State University had three student-athletes -Shradha Chhabra, Ashton Morrison and Chiara Santoro - named to the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Academic All-District® Team. 

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must have been in the lineup for 70 percent of the total matches played by the team that included a team score.

Chhabra, a junior from New Delhi, India, earned her named on the list with a 3.80 cumulative grade-point average as a psychology major with a minor in criminal justice. Chhabra posted a 13-8 ledger in singles and a 12-8 mark in doubles in 2023-24. Chhabra, who has tallied 42 wins in singles and 35 more in doubles, was named to the CSC Academic All-District® Team a year ago as well as being named as a Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athlete and to the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll during her career. She also received the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award and named to the PBC Women's Tennis Team of Academic Distinction last year.

Morrison, a senior from Cumming, Georgia, recorded a 3.97 cumulative GPA as a special education major. Morrison along with teammate Jada Young were named to the All-PBC doubles team for the second consecutive season after picking up nine wins in  2024. Morrison also tallied 10 wins in singles this season. She finished with 39 career wins in singles and another 39 in doubles. Morrison was named to the CSC Academic All-District® Team for a second consecutive season and was named to the PBC Women's Tennis of Academic Distinction. She has also been named an ITA Scholar Athlete and the PBD Presidential Honor Roll in her career and received the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2023.

Santoro, a junior from Santa Ursula, Spain, has compiled a 3.88 cumulative GPA as an exercise science major. Santoro posted a 15-6 record in singles and an 11-10 tally in doubles in 2024 as she has been named to the All-Peach Belt team for the third time. She was a first-team selection in singles in 2024 and was named to the second team in singles and doubles in 2023. Santoro, who has 44 career wins in singles and another 32 in doubles, was named to PBC Women's Tennis Team of Academic Distinction and received the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award last season and has been named an ITA Scholar Athlete and to the PBC Presidential Honor Roll in her career.

The Bobcats, who were ranked as high as No. 16 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, finished their 2023-24 season with a 12-11 ledger and advanced to the semifinals of the Peach Belt Tournament.

The Division II CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects of the 2023-24 program.
