Guest Artist Recital: Nave Graham, flute

Thursday, Sept. 19 Award-winning guest artist and flutist Nave Graham will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Max Noah Recital Hall at Georgia College & State University. Graham is an assistant professor of flute at the University of Central Arkansas and also serves as faculty for the Interlochen Center for the Arts’ summer art camp in Michigan. She is a founding member of the contemporary chamber music sextet, “All of the Above,” and certified in mindfulness. She likes to integrate meditation, acceptance and self-compassion in music curriculum. Graham is also co-author of the repertory database, “Flue Music by Black Composers.” The concert will feature a variety of solo compositions for flute from the 20th- and 21st-centuries—showcasing the flute’s seemingly infinite sound range: deep, resonant, echoing, booming, resounding. A $5 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GCSU Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc.
