GCSU announces new trustees to its Foundation Board

Georgia College & State University announces the election of five new members to its GCSU Foundation Board of Trustees: Louise “Lou” Wingfield Childs; Debra White Minor, ’88; Patience Eunice Peterson; Dr. Anne Sanchez Culberson; and Dr. C. Bernard Solomon, ’86. Their new term begins July 1.

"The trustees of the Foundation at Georgia College & State University are the sole fiduciary board on campus, directly responsible for managing the university's endowment,” said Seth Walker, vice president for University Advancement.

“Beyond their fiduciary duties,” he said, “these trustees play a crucial role in advocating for the university and actively engaging with campus life. I look forward to collaborating with them as we work to enhance the foundation’s impact on our students, faculty and staff.”

A consultant, Lou Wingfield Childs of Columbus, Georgia, has more than 25 years of marketing and communications experience. She previously served as a judge for the popular elevator pitch competition at Georgia College’s J. Whitney Bunting College of Business and Technology. Childs is married to Walter Wilson “Tripp” Childs III and mother to six, bonus mother to three and grandmother to 16.

Debra White Minor of Augusta, Georgia, earned a B.S. in Nursing in 1988 from Georgia College. She is a past president of the GCSU African American Alumni Council, former College of Health Sciences Leadership Board member and active in Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. White Minor is married to Lawrence Minor, and they have a son, Evan.

Patience Peterson of Atlanta and Ailey, Georgia, is an assistant vice president at Risk Solutions, at LexisNexis®. She first joined LexisNexis in 2003 doing inside sales. Peterson is the granddaughter of Congressman Hugh Peterson, Sr. and Patience “Miss Pat” Elizabeth Russell Peterson, for whom the Georgia College Pat Peterson Museum Education Room is named.

Dr. Anne Sanchez Culberson of Milledgeville and Greensboro, Georgia, is a retired orthodontist who founded a practice with locations in Milledgeville, Gray and Eatonton. Culberson’s Bobcat roots run deep. Both Sanchez Culberson’s mother and her husband’s mother were Georgia College alumnae (Martha Smith Paine, ’32, and Mary Ruth Wills, ’24). Sanchez and her husband Dr. Robert “Bob” W. Culberson have a son, Mark, who graduated from Georgia College in 1999.

Dr. C. Bernard Solomon of Macon, Georgia, is also an alumnus. He earned his BBA in Management in 1986. Solomon manages JSR, Inc., a family-owned brokerage founded by his father, James Solomon. Solomon is a charter member of the Omega Mu chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, founded in 1985 at Georgia College. Solomon and his wife Pam (née McDonald, retired Army) have three adult children: Tia, Alycia and Cameron B. Solomon II.

“On behalf of the entire board, we are thrilled to welcome these newest additions to the leadership of GCSU,” said Foundation Board Chair Jeff Wansley. “It’s always exciting to have new ideas and engagement supporting the university. I look forward to working with them.”
