Bobcats release 2024 cross country schedules

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University Men's and Women's Cross Country Head Coach Alexander Bruno has released the upcoming 2024 schedule for the Bobcats.

"We are extremely excited for the competitive schedule we have planned this fall," said Bruno. "Opening the season at USC Upstate allows us to gain experience on the regional championship course. The return of the GCSU Bobcat Invite will be the centerpiece of our regular season. Our upperclassmen will provide us with valuable insights as we return to a familiar course for the Peach Belt Championship."

The Bobcats open the season Sept. 6 with two meets. GCSU will compete at the Eye Opener hosted by the University of South Carolina Upstate. The Milliken Research Park course is one that has hosted many regional and national championship events and will again host the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships Nov. 9. The Bobcats will also compete at the GMC Brickyard Invitational hosted by Georgia Military College at the Council Farms Cross Country Course.

GCSU will travel to Macon, Georgia, Sept. 21 to take part in the Julius Johnson Invitational hosted by Mercer University at the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course.

Sept. 28 marks the return of the GCSU Bobcat Invitational that will be competed at Council Farms Cross Country Course in Milledgeville. The women's 5K race will start at 9 a.m. followed by the men's 8K event at 10 a.m.

The final regular season meet for the Bobcats will be Oct. 11, as they travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, to take part in the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens University of Charlotte at McAlpine Creek Park.

The Bobcats will compete in the Peach Belt Conference Championships Oct. 26 in Oakwood, Georgia, at the UNG Cross Country Course. It will be the second consecutive season that the conference meet will be hosted by the University of North Georgia. GCSU finished in fourth place in both races a year ago.
