Walktober, Well-being Challenge: Registration now open

Walktober, Well-being Challenge: Registration now open

Are you ready to step into a good challenge? Maybe ... Walktober?

Fall is an ideal time for walking — summer temperatures give way to cool, crisp air and brilliant fall colors paint a landscape inviting us to get out and move. Walktober makes fall fitness even more appealing with fun tracking tools, social features and the option to participate on a team.

  • Registration: Sept. 16 – October 6 https://usgwellbeing.walktober.com/
  • Walktober Challenge: Oct. 1 – Oct. 31
  • Fill your Walktober Tree with red, orange and gold leaves for reaching daily step goals; You’ll reveal vivid autumn landscapes from around the world as you meet milestones! Achieve your goal of 20 leaves by logging 6,000+ steps per day, five days a week.
    • 6,000-7,999 steps = RED leaf
    • 8,000-9,999 steps = ORANGE leaf
    • 10,000+ steps = GOLD leaf
  • Invite friends to join you for support or some healthy competition in teams (optional).
    • The goal of teams is to reinforce a lasting exercise habit with a fun, friendly competition that emphasizes consistency over athleticism. Teams consist of four to five members and become official when at least three people accept the team leader’s invitation.
    • When you register, you can choose to become a team lead and invite fellow Georgia College & State University participants to join you. Accountability is a powerful tool when it comes to our overall health.
    • USG Well-being’s data shows that participants in teams of four or five have double the chance of achieving their program goals than those flying solo.

If you don’t have a fitness tracker that automatically captures your steps, no worries! You can log the minutes you walk, and the challenge website will convert time into steps. If you're logging your time, you will need to manually add these minutes after logging into the Walktober Challenge website.

Registration is now open at https://usgwellbeing.walktober.com and ends Oct. 6. The challenge begins Oct. 1 and ends Oct. 31.

You can start logging activity Tuesday, Oct. 1. All teams must be formed by Sunday, Oct. 6. This friendly competition will end Thursday, Oct. 31, but you can continue to record activity until the team scores freeze on Saturday, Nov. 2.

This is a friendly competition across the USG – there might be a winning institution that gets to claim the traveling trophy.

Bobcats, let's get moving! Register now and join us in October as we crush this year's Walktober Challenge
