Transition to Microsoft OneDrive for Personnel Data Storage

Dear Georgia College & State University faculty and staff,

We are excited to announce an important upgrade to our data storage system. In the coming months, we will transition from our current onsite data storage to Microsoft OneDrive. This change will bring numerous benefits to you and our university.

Key benefits of moving to OneDrive:

  1. Enhanced accessibility: Access your files securely from anywhere, on any device, at any time.
  2. Improved collaboration: Easily share files and collaborate in real-time with colleagues, streamlining our teamwork.
  3. Increased storage capacity: Enjoy significantly more storage space for your work-related files.
  4. Advanced security: Benefit from Microsoft's enterprise-grade security measures, including encryption and multi-factor authentication.
  5. Seamless integration: OneDrive integrates smoothly with other Microsoft Office applications, enhancing your productivity.
  6. Cost-effective: This move will reduce our Information Technology infrastructure costs overall.

What this means for you:

  • You will need to move your existing files to OneDrive.
  • There will be a transition period, and both systems will be accessible.

Next steps:

  1. Move your existing data to OneDrive.
  2. Start using OneDrive for file storage.

The transition period for this migration will end Nov. 30, 2024.

We are confident that this transition will significantly improve our data management and your day-to-day work experience. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to the IT Helpdesk at AskIT@gcsu.edu or (478) 445-7378.

Thank you for your cooperation as we embrace this positive change.

Best regards,
