Important information security effort

As a result of recent information security incidents at other University System of Georgia Institutions, Georgia College & State University Information Technology has been asked by USG Information Technology Services to review our network traffic and interrogate all end user devices (including your laptops and desktops) for telltale indications of compromise. As we perform this work, you should not be inconvenienced in any way. However, you may notice a new desktop icon on your device that resembles a magnifying glass and is labeled “Everything.” This is a legitimate tool that we are using to search for a handful of very specific files. This tool will be removed from your machine in the near future. Please reach out to me directly at cio@gcsu.edu if you have any questions or concerns about this effort.
