Bobcats picked fourth in PBC poll, Young named to preseason team
AUGUSTA, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University women's tennis team has been selected fourth in the preseason Peach Belt Conference coaches poll.
Senior Jada Young also was selected for the preseason all-conference squad.
Flagler College, which is ranked seventh nationally, was selection first in the preseason poll with 34 points, while the University of North Georgia, which is ranked sixth in the country, was second with 32 points. Columbus State University was third with 27 points followed by GCSU (20), Lander University (15), Augusta University (13) and Georgia Southwestern State University (6).
The Bobcats went 12-11 last season and finished ranked 49th nationally.
Young, who is a senior from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, is currently ranked 14th in the ITA Division II Southeast Region singles ranking. The two-time All-Peach Belt selection in singles and doubles went 12-10 at No. 1 singles in 2024. She reached the fourth round of singles at the ITA Southeast Regional this past fall.
First serve of the 2025 season will be Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. when the Bobcats host Newberry College at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts.
