Bobcats earn No. 7 seed in Southeast Regional
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | The NCAA announced the field for the 2025 Division II Women's Tennis Tournament Monday (May 5) evening and Georgia College & State University has earned the No. 7 seed in the Southeast regional.
The Bobcats (15-6), which is ranked No. 29 nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, will be making their 26th appearance in the NCAA tournament and first time since 2023.
GCSU will face No. 2 seed University of North Georgia (18-6) in the opening round of Southeast Regional No. 2 Monday (May 12) at 11 a.m. at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek. The Nighthawks, who are ranked fourth nationally, defeated the Bobcats twice this season. UNG defeated GCSU 6-1 during the regular season in Milledgeville, Georgia, and 4-1 in the semifinals of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament in Columbus, Georgia.
The other half of the regional has No. 3 seed Columbus State University (15-5) facing No. 6 seed Lees-McRae College (15-3). The Cougars, who are ranked ninth nationally, will face the Bobcats, who are ranked No. 42, at 3 p.m. Monday (May 12).
The two winners will meet in the regional final at 11 a.m. Tuesday (May 13). The regional winner will advance to the 16-team national championship field that begins May 21 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
