GCSU has 69 student-athletes earn D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award

WESTLAKE, Ohio | Sixty-nine Georgia College & State University student-athletes have been recognized by the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association with their D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award.

GCSU had 35 repeat honorees, including Anna Agi (women's cross country) who received the award for the fifth consecutive year.

Kaitlyn Anders (softball),  Sydney Charles (women's soccer), Divina Checo (softball), Shradha Chhabra (women's tennis), Gabe Cizek (men's tennis), Blane Davis (men's golf), Aralyn Everett (women's soccer), Jillian Muncus (women's cross country), Brooke Roberts (women's volleyball), Chiara Santoro (women's tennis), and Jada Warren (women's basketball) each received the award for the third consecutive year. Laura Almagro (women's tennis), Carter Barnes (baseball), Lorena Cazora (women's cross country), Sarah Charney (women's soccer), Rodrigo PĂ©rez Crespo (men's tennis), Carter Drake (women's soccer), Arin Goriscak (women's soccer), Emily Hobbs (softball), Bridget Johnson (women's soccer), Riese Johnson (women's volleyball),  Sarah King (women's soccer), TJ Kloiber (baseball), Aidan Kudlas (men's basketball), Eliza Kuhne (softball), Oscar Lynch (men's basketball), Chloe Markey (women's soccer), Lily Markey (women's soccer), Sarah Mason (women's soccer), Grace Phillips (women's soccer), Caroline Pollock (softball), Will Sims (baseball), Bailey Vick (women's basketball), and Amelia Wylly (women's basketball). 
 
Women's soccer led the way with 17 student-athletes, while softball closely behind with 15. Women's basketball added nine, followed by baseball with six and women's cross country with five. Men's tennis, women's tennis and women's volleyball each had four honorees, while men's basketball had three and men's golf had two.

The Academic Achievement Awards, in its 18th year, is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. In total, there were 22,740 student-athletes from 202 institutions being recognized for the 2024-25 Academic Achievement Awards. It was the largest number of student-athletes being nominated since the award program's inception. The Peach Belt Conference had 625 student-athletes earn the Academic Achievement Award.

To receive the Academic Achievement Award, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work, and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.
