GCSU welcomes Tiana Key to International Education Center
Give a warm Bobcat welcome to Tiana Key, new assistant director of Education Abroad in the International Education Center. She began her duties at Georgia College & State University on Sept. 2.
Some of Key’s duties include working with faculty programs, advising students and marketing creatively to make study abroad programs more visible to all students.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Key holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a master’s degree in public administration, along with an Associates of Arts degree.
Key has vast experience in working with students abroad. She piloted the First-Year Experience Abroad Program and founded and advised the First-Generation Student Organization at the University of Central Missouri. Key also facilitated the daily operation of the Multicultural Student Engagement Resource Center and designed programming promoting student leadership and development at Park University.
Fun facts about Key:
- She studied abroad five times as an undergraduate to Jordan, Israel and the West Bank, the Netherlands, Jamaica and Tanzania.
- She is a Peace Corps Youth in Development Awardee.
- She has been to 33 countries and worked – like GCSU’s Study Abroad Programs – to increase student access to international opportunities.
In her new role, Key looks forward to working with students to help them see themselves as global citizens.
“I know how transformative study abroad programs are,” she said. “There’s a wealth of affordable, international programs and opportunities to fit every GCSU student. I want to encourage and empower our students to seek these opportunities out that are of interest to them.”
