Thank-a-Teacher @ GCSU - Fall '25
At the Center for Teaching and Learning, we know how much instructors contribute to student success inside and outside the classroom. We formally launched the Thank-a-Teacher initiative in fall 2021 to recognize this impact. This initiative allows students to express gratitude to instructors who have made a positive difference in their educational journey.
Since the program's start, hundreds of student nominations have highlighted the dedication of Georgia College & State University instructors. Many instructors have found these nominations meaningful, even incorporating them into tenure and promotion portfolios to reflect their teaching excellence. Here are other ways nominations can and have impacted instructors: boosting morale and motivation, building stronger instructor-student relationships, department recognition, strengthening grant applications to demonstrate teaching excellence, teaching blogs and self-reflection.
Here's how the program works:
Once student nominations are collected, nominated instructors receive:
- An e-certificate recognizing their contributions.
- A personalized acknowledgment letter of appreciation.
- Recognition on our Thank-a-Teacher webpage.
We believe teaching is one of the most rewarding professions, and this initiative provides students with a way to express their appreciation while offering instructors tangible acknowledgment of their value to our learning community.
Encourage your students to participate!
Please direct students to the Thank-a-Teacher form to submit their nominations and recognize the instructors who have inspired or supported them. The form will be available from Nov. 24 through Dec. 16.
