GCSU named a Celonis Academic Center of Excellence for second time

The J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology at Georgia College & State University has again been named as a Celonis Academic Center of Excellence. This recognition awards institutions who are leaders in process mining and intelligence education.

Celonis Academic Centers of Excellence are premier academies for applied education, curriculum development research, and industry collaboration in the field of process mining. Each year, universities from around the world undergo a rigorous application process, with a select group chosen from more than 500 institutions in the Celonis academic community. For the 2025–2026 academic year, 13 universities received the designation.

"Being recognized as a Celonis Academic Center of Excellence for the second consecutive year demonstrates our unique ability as a liberal arts institution to blend critical thinking with cutting-edge process mining technology," Dr. Jeannie Pridmore, chair of Information Systems and Computer Science said. "With over 100 students earning certifications annually and gaining hands-on experience through industry partnerships like Southwire, we're preparing the next generation of business leaders to drive innovation in this rapidly evolving field."

Each Center of Excellence demonstrates applying in-depth Process Mining education to their classrooms.

Georgia College began its partnership with Celonis in 2023 and has grown the program to include the Celonis Process Intelligence Platform across courses, student projects and academic programming. Some highlights include:

  • 100+ students earning Rising Stars Process Mining certification annually.
  • Four courses incorporating Celonis tools and materials, including design thinking practicums and enterprise systems.
  • Integration across undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Industry-applied learning, including a summer design thinking project with Celonis customer Southwire, where students used real customer data to identify inefficiencies in order to cash and procurement processes.
  • Active participation in Process Mining conferences, research projects and community-building initiatives.

As a liberal arts institution, GCSU excels in aligning curriculum with real-life industry practices, ensuring students gain hands-on experience with emerging technologies that shape modern business operations.

University applicants are assessed on the following criteria:

● number of students certified in Process Mining

● curriculum inclusion of Cellonis materials

● collaboration between industry and academia

● intangibles, such as community activities, research projects and conferences
