GCSU Programs serving non‑GCSU student minors

Georgia College & State University is committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all minors (ages 17 and under) who participate in university‑affiliated programs. Any program, course, event or activity involving non‑GCSU student minors must comply with the university’s established Protection of Minors Policy.

Who Must Comply

The following groups are required to follow GCSU’s Protection of Minors Policy:

  • GCSU employees administering programs where the university assumes custody of minors.
  • Non‑university organizations operating programs or activities involving minors on GCSU property.

Program Administrator Requirements

Every program serving minors must designate a Program Administrator who:

  • Must be a GCSU employee.
  • Is responsible for the safety of participating minors, staff and volunteers.
  • Must agree to comply with all written policies and procedures.

Program Administrators should consult the Protection of Minors One‑Stop Website for detailed, step‑by‑step guidance. (Login required)

Before Offering a Program

Program Administrators must complete the following steps before advertising a program or reserving space:

  1. Register the program in the institutional registry and receive official approval. (Login required)
  2. Complete and pass the annual Program Administrator Training, available through GeorgiaVIEW.
  3. Allow sufficient time for program planning, including:
    1. Hiring and background screening
    2. Staff and volunteer training
    3. Development of a compliant program structure

Annual Renewal Requirement

All ongoing programs must be renewed each school year.

  • Both returning and new programs must complete yearly registration to remain active.
