GCSU’s Mobile Health Unit available to faculty and staff today for Wellness Day 2026

Georgia College & State University’s Mobile Health Unit is a part of Wellness Day 2026 and is available to serve our employees! The MHU will be parked in the reserved parking spots at the Old Courthouse, which will be adjacent to the Wellness Day activities.

Nursing faculty and students will be on the bus providing free cardiovascular risk assessments for faculty and staff. These screenings include:

  • Blood pressure
  • HbA1c (average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months)
  • Hemoglobin (an indicator of iron levels)
  • Cholesterol panel (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides)
  • Height, weight and BMI

Participants will also complete a brief health questionnaire and perceived stress assessment to help provide a more complete picture of cardiovascular health. Once results are available, participants will have the opportunity to review them with a nurse, ask questions and learn more about their overall cardiovascular risk. Using the information collected, an individual’s cardiovascular disease risk and “heart age” can be estimated through a nationally recognized risk calculator. All screenings are completely free, no insurance is required, and they are open to all faculty and staff.

We look forward to this inaugural Wellness Day for our campus and are excited about the opportunity for our faculty and staff to have direct access to the MHU!

The MHU is not provided by Benefits or the Office of Human Resources. We just wanted to make sure everyone is made aware of the opportunity.
