Prior named NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week

SALISBURY, N.C. | Georgia College & State University's Keaton Prior has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Pitcher of the Week ending March 2.

Prior, a junior from Milledgeville, Georgia, tossed a no-hitter as the Bobcats took the series opener against the University of South Carolina-Beaufort 11-0 in seven innings. It was the first no-no for the Bobcats since Michael Joyce twirled his in a 7-0 (7 innings) win against Kennesaw State University on Feb. 26, 2000. Prior struck out eight and allowed just one runner to get to third base in the complete-game effort. He walked two, hit a batter and had another reach on a throwing error. Prior retired 14 of the final 15 batters he faced.

Prior is only the third Bobcat in program history to be named NCBWA Region Pitcher of the Week, joining Charlie Hecht (2017) and Bradley Wilson (2025).

Prior advances to the NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week consideration, which is announced Thursday, March 5.

The Bobcats, who are currently riding a four-game winning streak, return to Peach Belt Conference action when they open up a three-game weekend series against Middle Georgia State University. The first pitch of the series opener is 4 p.m. Friday, March 6, in Cochran, Georgia.
