April 2026: GeorgiaVIEW updates
Check out these new features that are currently available in GeorgiaVIEW/D2L!
Lock Quiz Attempt into a Single Login Session
- Instructors now have the option to restrict a quiz attempt to a single active session. This means that once a student begins a quiz attempt, they cannot leave and later resume the attempt on another device or in another login session. View Create and configure a quiz to learn more.
Auto-Zero Grading
- This new feature gives instructors the option to have the LMS automatically enter a grade of zero on course activities that are past due. In the grade book, grades that have been automatically assigned a zero are underlined and include hover text that states, “Automatic zero. Missing submission on the due date.” The student sees a message that states, “This activity is overdue, and you haven’t completed it. Review the course syllabus for guidance on late submissions.” This message is no longer visible after the activity end date has passed. Visit About automatic zero grading for missing submissions and How course activity types interact with automatic zero grading to learn more.
- To enable this feature in your course, navigate to Grades, open the Setup Wizard, click Start and Continue until you reach Step 3 of 7. Check the box to enable Automatic Zero for Missing Submissions. Click Continue until you reach Step 7, then click Finish. Note that once enabled, automatic zeroes will only be applied on due dates that occur in the future. A grade of zero will not be assigned automatically for due dates that have already passed.
Zero Point Quiz Questions
- Quiz questions can now be assigned a value of zero points! This feature can be particularly helpful for collecting feedback or including an “honesty code” question in a quiz. Prior to now, quiz questions could not be saved without a point value. View Manage Quiz Questions to learn more.
Discussion Due Dates
- You now have the option to enable due dates on discussions, similar to adding due dates on assignments and quizzes. View Manage discussion forums and topics to learn more. Note: This update is described as the “first post due date,” but be aware that all posts, including replies, will be flagged as “late” if they occur after the due date.
