Four GCSU players named to All-Peach Belt Teams 

AUGUSTA, Ga. | Four Georgia College & State University softball players have been lauded with All-Peach Belt Conference honors.

Karlie Gutierrez was named to the first team, while Emily Hobbs, Sydney Lancaster and Sydney Garrett were second-team honorees.

It was the third all-conference nod for Gutierrez as she was named to the second team in 2024 and 2025, while it was the second time for Hobbs and Lancaster. Hobbs was named to the second team in 2024, while Lancaster was a second-team choice in 2025.

Gutierrez, a junior catcher from Newnan, Georgia, led the Bobcats with a .387 batting average (46-of-119), 13 doubles and .529 slugging percentage. She was second on the team in RBI (22), on-base percentage (.471) and stolen bases (13). The Peach Belt Player of the Week was third in runs scored (27), triples (2) and hit by pitches (7). She also added 13 walks. Gutierrez is fifth in the Peach Belt in hit by pitches, seventh in doubles and eighth in hitting and on-base percentage.

Garrett, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Chickamauga, Georgia, made 28 appearances in the circle for the Bobcats with 19 starts. Garrett, who was named a PBC Pitcher of the Week during the season, went 11-10 with 14 complete games, two shutouts, a save and 2.61 earned-run average. In 131.2 innings pitched, she allowed 117 hits and 49 earned runs, while striking out 93 and limiting opponents to a .237 batting average. Garrett threw the first no-hitter in GCSU softball in 11 years when the Bobcats defeated Emmanuel (Ga.) University 8-0 in five innings. It also was the 15th no-hitter in program history. She is fourth in the Peach Belt in complete games, fifth in strikeouts, sixth in ERA, games started and wins, seventh in opponents batting average, eighth in innings pitched.

Hobbs, a senior infielder from Ochlocknee, Georgia, led the Bobcats was 51 hits, 34 runs scored and 22 walks. She was second in batting average (.372, 51-of-137), 10 doubles, 22 RBI, .504 slugging percentage, and 13 stolen bases in 47 games (46 starts). Hobbs, who was named a PBC Player of the Week this season, was third in home runs (2), and on-base percentage (.453). Hobbs was seventh in the PBC in sacrifice hits (7).

Lancaster, a senior utility player from Woodstock, Georgia, started 46 of the 47 games played for the Bobcats. She led the team in triples (3) and was third in hitting (.331, 45-of-136), home runs (2) and hit by pitches (7), She also also scored 23 runs, had a .471 slugging percentage, six walks, five stolen bases and a .377 on-base percentage. She is fourth in the league in sacrifice hits (9), and fifth in hit by pitches and triples.

The Bobcats return to action Friday (May 8) when they face the University of South Carolina-Beaufort in a 1:30 p.m. quarterfinal game in the 2026 PBC Tournament in Dahlonega, Georgia.
