During today’s weekly test of the Weather Warn notification system, our campus siren signal failed to function properly. We are troubleshooting the issue and will disseminate an updated status message on or before the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023. As further system tests are conducted, it is possible that an audible siren and test message announcement may be heard this week.
Our fire alarm network monitoring has been restored and the system is no longer reliant on manual notifications. All system components are back to normal.

Our fire alarm monitoring system in Public Safety has experienced loss of fiber connectivity. Troubleshooting is in progress, and we hope to restore service soon. In the meantime, please contact Public Safety at 445-4400 in the event of an audible alarm. Please note that all fire alarm and suppression systems continue to be operational and protection remains unaffected. However, we will be relying on manual dispatch pending restoration of connectivity.

Hurricane Idalia has strengthened overnight, and our campus is now within the tropical storm warning zone. We expect strong wind gusts and prolonged periods of rain in our area.
Georgia College & State University is currently monitoring the weather situation from multiple sources. GCSU is currently outside the tropical storm zone. However, there is a potential for strong winds and heavy rain in our area.
Although we are not closing campus at this time, we urge everyone to be extra cautious particularly when driving. Please check Front Page and GCSU social media accounts for updates on any changed conditions tomorrow morning.
School Dude, the system we use to facilitate work orders on campus, had a breach where the hackers obtained your email address and your password (in addition to your name, phone number, and school district). Please change your GCSU password immediately.
The City of Milledgeville has canceled the Boil Water Advisory issued on Friday, April 28.
City officials ask that water conservation efforts continue through Wednesday, May 3, when repairs to the high service pump at its water treatment facility are expected to be complete.
Georgia College & State University will continue normal operations throughout the week of Monday, May 1 through Friday, May 5. Final exams will continue as scheduled.
On Friday April 28, normal campus operations will resume for students, faculty and staff.
Milledgeville city officials have made some progress today in replacing valves in the water system, but have informed us that they do not expect significant improvement in the water pressure situation until the new pump arrives on Thursday from New Jersey and is installed as soon thereafter as possible.
