Dr. Elissa Auerbach, an art history professor at Georgia College & State University, is an expert in 17th-century Dutch and Flemish religious art. Her research examines how Dutch artists adapted traditional representations of the Virgin Mary for a broader market after the Protestant Reformation and how Marian imagery might’ve impacted Protestant theological teachings in literature.
