The Eta Sigma Alpha, the Honors student association at Georgia College & State University, is raising money to help the fishing village of Kalametiya, Sri Lanka to control the number stray dogs in the community. These dogs were originally abandoned in the village by neighboring towns in hopes that the villagers would feed them scraps of seafood. Specifically, he will cover the recent elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Carter Center’s increasing focus on climate justice and ways that GCSU students can leverage opportunities to get involved with international development and global affairs. To inaugurate Research Day, Dr. Richard Newton, associate professor and undergraduate director of Religious Studies at The University of Alabama, will deliver a keynote address titled “From Virtual to Reality: Research in the Humanities” Tuesday, March 26, in Magnolia Ballroom. Saladin Scholarship recipients will also be recognized. The event will begin with a heavy hors d'oeuvres reception from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Please RSVP by March 18 via the QR code or the embedded link.
