Creative Writing Faculty Reading – Thursday, Aug. 28, at Black Box Theater
As the semester begins, the Creative Writing Program invites you to join us for an evening to celebrate our faculty at the Fall 2025 Faculty Reading on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the Black Box Theater, 137 W. Hancock St. (behind the Barnes & Noble — turn into the alley before the marquee if walking from campus).
We’re proud to share the work of writers who, among their many publications and honors, continue to reach national and international audiences.
This evening will honor the recent and forthcoming work of Georgia College & State University’s own Creative Writing faculty:
- Kerry James Evans, author of Bangalore and the forthcoming Nine Persimmons, NEA fellow and program coordinator for the MFA and undergraduate programs.
- Kerry Neville, author of the memoir Momma May Be Mad and two award-winning story collections, Fulbright fellow and interim chair of Communication.
- Laura Newbern, Georgia Author of the Year, recipient of a Rona Jaffe Award and author of A Night in the Country and Love and the Eye.
- Peter Selgin, Flannery O’Connor Award winner, author of novels, memoir, craft books and plays, including Duplicity and A Boy’s Guide to Outer Space.
- Chika Unigwe, 2025 O. Henry Prize winner, internationally acclaimed novelist (The Middle Daughter, The Grace) and judge for the esteemed Man Booker Prize.
There will be plenty of seating, so please invite students, colleagues and friends.
