Flannery O'Connor Review Release Party: Tuesday, 4 - 5 p.m., Pat Peterson Museum Education Room, Free refreshments and Flannery-themed prizes
The Flannery O’Connor Review, in partnership with the Flannery O’Connor Institute for the Humanities, will hold a party celebrating the release of our 2025 issue! Faculty, staff, students and members of the wider community are invited to enjoy refreshments, take a look at the new issue and win fabulous Flannery-themed prizes! Whether you know very little about O'Connor or consider yourself an expert, you are welcome to join us.
When: Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Pat Peterson Museum Education Room (Russell Library, Room 211)
What: At this drop-in event, members of the Georgia College & State University and Milledgeville community may enjoy refreshments and celebrate our new issue.
Highlights: A piece of O’Connor’s recently revealed original artwork serves as the cover for Volume 23, and readers will also find previously unseen archival photos of O'Connor. This issue also includes a fabulous selection from the "Collecting the Past: Flannery O'Connor & Milledgeville" (led by GCSU Faculty member Stephanie Opperman), a keynote lecture from our 2024 O'Connor centenary conference, a special feature on work produced for 2023’s NEH Summer Institute on O’Connor and the winning article of our annual Sarah Gordon Award for junior scholars. Fans of O'Connor's story "The Displaced Person" will learn much from an interview with Al Matysiak, Milledgeville resident and the youngest member of a family from Poland who lived and worked at Andalusia Farm after fleeing WWII Europe.
In addition to the release of the new issue, the Flannery O’Connor Review celebrates its new Editor, Dr. Matt Bryant Cheney, and its recently retired Editor, Dr. Bruce Gentry, for his 23 years of service at the journal.
Refreshments will be provided and copies of the review will be available for purchase. The Flannery O’Connor Review reminds Georgia College faculty, staff and students that copies of the review will be available free of charge. We welcome all who’d like to attend to celebrate with us!
Copies of the issue are also available for purchase at our new web store. (Click here to access.)
