Open Enrollment & Virtual Benefits FairOpen Enrollment is now live! You will be able to login and make your benefit elections October 25 - November 5, 2021. This is an active open enrollment -- you MUST login and answer the tobacco user & working spouse (if applicable) surcharge questions. Failure to do so will result in default surcharges ($100 minimum) added to your monthly premiums beginning in January 2022.
The Virtual Benefits Fair is also open this week, October 25 - 29th. Visit https://usg.vfairs.com/ and register using your name, email, and institution. Drawing 1 students are presenting their drawings in the stairwell all week. They performed their value studies using charcoal and the subject of clouds - some are light and airy, puffy, textural, dark, and seemingly stormy. A big thank you to Evan Leavitt who encouraged the drawing students to display their work in the library and helped our GC art students see their work in a new way.

READ MORE REMINDER: 2021 Annual Employee Compliance Refresher It is time once again to complete the required Annual Employee Compliance Training at Georgia College. You will be receiving an email from Percipio, the platform used to launch the training. The email will state you have an assignment from GC in the subject line. Please open the email and click view assignments and it will direct you to the training.
The training is a University System of Georgia requirement for all employees (faculty, staff and student workers). This year’s content consist of institutional and system policies and procedures, as well as motor vehicle use.
All employees hired prior to September 1st, 2021, including student workers, must complete the Policy Compliance and Ethics Refresher. Individuals who drive on university business must also complete the Motor Vehicle Use Program module.

READ MORE REMINDER: Wind Symphony Concert: A Jazzy AffairThursday, Oct. 28 Georgia College’s Wind Symphony presents “A Jazzy Affair” at 7:30 p.m. in Russell Auditorium. Directed by Dr. Cliff Towner, this concert aims to lift the heavy and tiring weight of the pandemic with fun, light and uplifting music. Influenced by American jazz, there will be harmonic style and some improvisation––similar to a Pops Orchestra concert on a breezy summer evening in Atlanta. Songs dating back to 1927 will be featured, like “Latte Macchiato” by Naoya Wada; “Fly Me to the Moon” by Bart Howard and “Sweet Trombone Rag” by Al Sweet. Senior music therapy major Reed Tanner will be on alto saxophone. Reed is the 2019 Concerto Competition winner. Saving Juliette: A Documentary on Coal Ash & A Georgia Town's Fight for Clean Water
Please join us on Thursday, October 28th at 7pm in Peabody Auditorium for a screening of a 40-minute investigative documentary film, "Saving Juliette." The film follows residents of Juliette, Georgia after they find that the coal ash pond adjacent to Georgia Power's Plant Scherer is submerged in the same aquifer from which they draw their well water.
After the screening, we will hold a panel discussion with director, Evey Wilson Wetherbee (Mercer University Center for Collaborative Journalism), producer Grant Blankenship (Georgia Public Broadcasting), Dr. Allison VandeVoort (Environmental Science), and Dr. Veronica Womack (Executive Director, Rural Studies Institute).
