The First-Year Guide (FYG) student peer mentors out of the Office of the First-Year Experience are excited to partner with the Academic Advising Center in the Help Hub this registration season! Registration is now open for faculty interested in facilitating a GCReads micro seminar this fall. GCReads is our common reading experience for incoming first-year students. The 2021 GCReads theme is Reflecting on Civility. Students will select one of 10 essays to discuss during a 75 minute micro seminar on Friday August 13th during their Weekend of Welcome. Faculty consistently rate the experience as “excellent” or “good” and students describe GCReads as a “good introduction to college.” ...

Dear GC Faculty: We are gearing up for the 2020 GCReads First-Year Reading Initiative. This year, the overwhelming majority of Week of Welcome programming will housed virtually in asynchronous sessions in GAView. Whereas, in previous years, campus onboarding previously involved gathering large groups of students together, this year it will occur largely online.
